Mrs Silverthorn arrives as a Houseparent of Park House with her husband, Mr Mark Silverthorn, Head of Design and Technology, and their two young children, who both attend Rendcomb College Junior School.
Mrs Silverthorn is currently an Assistant Head teacher at a school Tewksbury with her primary responsibility focusing on student’s personal development, behaviour and welfare.
Mrs Silverthorn has been a teacher for over 12 years and also has past experience as a Chaplain’s assistant at the University of Wales.
Outside of school she is involved in a number of amateur dramatics groups and choral societies. She is also a passionate horse rider while sharing the interest of the outdoors with the rest of her family.
“Being a houseparent gives a different perspective to student life and it is nice to engage with students without our ‘teacher’s hat’ on.”
Mrs Silverthorn believes the setting of Park House is what sets it apart from other houses.
“The views out the front of the building are simply stunning. Out the back at some beautiful woods which really reflect the season, accompanied by the deer park. It really is surrounded by Cotswold magic.
“As a houseparent I will aim to be approachable, supportive and encouraging to all students as I learn from them as much I hope they will learn from me!”
