Induction Day
Pupils who have a confirmed place at Rendcomb for September entry will be invited with their families to the International Induction Day. This takes place on the arrival day and serves as a gentle and informal introduction to Rendcomb.
Pupils will receive their timetables, have an opportunity to meet the Head of College, Mr Jones, the Senior Leadership Team, Tutor, Head of Year, the International Registrar, medical Sisters, the School Chaplain, Learning Support the Travel Co-ordinator and School Prefects, move into the boarding houses, attend IT induction, meet their House Parents and meet the other new pupils and their families over a buffet lunch and afternoon tea.
Families who have not visited Rendcomb as part of the admissions process will have an opportunity to take a tour of the school during the day.
Towards the end of the Induction Day, pupils will be introduced to their ‘Buddy’. The buddy system ensures that pupils are nurtured and taken care of by a pupil who has been with us for some time, accompanied to meals, taken to lessons and generally be a friendly face to help new pupils settle into the 'Rendcomb Family' and make new friends.
Our boarding houses are equipped with Skype facilities and Wi-Fi so you may remain in contact with family and friends from home. The House Parents will be pleased to explain these facilities to you during the Induction Day.
Activities, Duke of Edinburgh, Sport and Music induction takes place within the first few days of school. If pupils are required to register with the police under the terms of their Tier 4 Visa we will arrange for this to take place at Rendcomb and support pupils through this process.
We encourage international parents to remain in contact with their child's Tutor and Head of Year to check on academic progress or discuss any questions that they may have. Guardians are also encouraged to attend Parents Evening's and report back to international parents.
Airport transfers can be arranged by prior arrangement for families who prefer not to drive. A minimum of two weeks notice is required. Please contact Travel@rendcombcollege.org.uk for further information.
