Pupils Choose Carpets and Colours for The New Boarding House
Pupils in Year 7 and 8 helped to choose some of the interior furnishings for Godman House which is set to open this September.
Construction work began in February on extending the current building which will have 40 beds, a large atrium-style common room, changing rooms, lockers, a games room and study spaces once complete.
Formerly the girls' Year 7-9 house, Godman will welcome boys from September continuing the co-educational environment children experience at home and in the Junior School.
The residential accommodation will be split into separate boys' and girls' wings and each dormitory will have 3 or 4 cabin-style beds with USB chargers, storage and reading lights.
Mr Jonnie Howorth, Deputy Head (Pastoral) helped the Year 7 and 8 pupils consider the colour swatches displayed in the carpet and vinyl flooring samples to make their decisions. They considered different textures for the carpets in the common rooms and bedrooms and the colours for the bathrooms to ensure they would be light and airy.
