Inaugural lacrosse tournament played at Rendcomb College

The inaugural Rendcomb Challenge Cup lacrosse tournament was played on Saturday, 19 March at the independent school in Gloucestershire. With six schools competing, the hosts came a respectable third place.

Pleasant but cold weather braced the teams and St George’s School Ascot beat runners up Sherborne School Dorset 3 goals to 2 in the final to take home the cup. Royal School Hazelmere, Peter Symonds College, Winchester and Bradfield College came fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.

Speaking about her team, Head of Lacrosse at Rendcomb College, Karen Coups said: “The girls have all played exceptionally and are really looking forward to building on their experiences next year. Given that some of our girls only picked up the sport this term, I am so proud of their achievements.

“I’d like to give particular thanks to our captain, Francesca Parshall, who truly led the team by example both on and off the field throughout the term; she’s been an absolute stalwart.

“This was the inaugural Rendcomb Challenge Cup and there was a great atmosphere and games were played in excellent spirits. All teams were keen to support the tournament again and are looking forward to the next one.”

The tournament marked the end of the lacrosse season with the Rendcomb College girls playing tennis next term.
