Rendcomb College celebrates Autumn with Harvest Festival

Last week Junior School pupils celebrated the start of autumn with this year’s Harvest Festival and Autumn Day.
On Tuesday, 2 October, pupils in the Junior School and Senior School brought in a variety of food gifts as donations to two local charities; Cirencester Food Bank and CHYP. The Food Bank provide much needed food and support to local residents and Cirencester Housing for Young People (CHYP), have been working with vulnerable, young homeless people since 1986, providing stable housing and support for those in need.
The 1st XV Rugby team also put together a special hamper which included a wide selection of items donated by themselves and their families.
Reverend Edy gave a number of services throughout the day to all year groups explaining the meaning behind the harvest festival and how their donations would be used.
After leading the service, Reverend Edy said: “Events like this are really important in bringing the school together. I see a great importance in the idea of pupils being given opportunities like this to reflect on the meaning of such festivals such as the Harvest Festival.”
Later on in the week pupils in the Nursery to Year 2 celebrated the season further with their annual autumn day.
The children baked ‘holly leaf’ biscuits, learnt autumn themed songs, enjoyed a picnic outside under the autumn trees and explored the forest school to make artwork from all of the beautiful coloured leaves.
