Rendcomb’s Little Fire Fighters

On Wednesday, 12 June 2019 the Nursery children were surprised with a visit from the Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service.
The children had the opportunity to play Fire Fighter for a day and learned the most crucial tips in Fire Safety. The Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service believe these educational trips are of high importance as teaching children from a young age how to deal with a fire will mean they are more likely to act quickly and safely; potentially saving countless lives.
The visit was made interactive and exciting for the children with the hope that this will make them more likely to remember what they learned.
Head of EYFS, Kim said: “Nursery loved their visit from the fire engine. We heard a story about fire safety and then we went outside to see the fire engine. The children all had a go at squirting the water and managed to get wet! The sirens were really loud but they liked the flashing lights.”
