British Shooting’s Talent Pathway Co-ordinator, Christian Schofield, is leading the event which aims to give young shooters an introduction to competition in an Olympic shooting format with a mixture of trap, skeet and sporting disciplines.

The 4 pupils from Rendcomb College have been selected to participate as they have shown excellent promise, leadership and accuracy during this year’s inter-schools competitions.

Rendcomb College’s Shooting Coach, Pete Cairns, said: “Shooting at Rendcomb College has gone from strength to strength in recent years and I am delighted that our best shots have been selected to participate in British Shooting’s event to have a taste of Olympic competition. They will be shooting in front of the governing body’s team selectors and talent spotters which will give them an excellent experience.

“The day will provide a fantastic shooting opportunity for our pupils to show their talent and try out the new Olympic style format.”

Pupils at Rendcomb College can attend weekly clay pigeon shooting coaching sessions that take place on-site within the school’s 230 acre estate. The College’s pupils benefit from full time APSI qualified instructors who coach children from the age 9 (Year 5) to age 18 (Year 13).

The teams participate in approximately 12 competitions per year and this year, hosted the first event at the College which was a resounding success. The girls’ A team at Rendcomb has had particular success winning three trophies this year to date with the National Schools Championships coming up in May to close the season.
