Nursery

Facilities

Our main area is spacious and colourful, designed to stimulate learning through play and a quiet rest area.

The Nursery room has a variety of facilities within it such as areas for role play, which changes on a weekly basis and includes a post office and kitchen among others.

The room is also well equipped with a host of other fun activities and games with access to chalkboards, painting and an indoor sandpit for your child to enjoy. There is also an interactive whiteboard in the room which can be used with adult supervision to play games and watch videos.

In addition to the basic facilities the Nursery also benefits from a child friendly laptop which can be used with the help of an adult to play games and learn basic computer literacy skills.

The Nursery also has access to their own courtyard garden and the Junior School's adventure playground.

The children have open access to all the facilities the Nursery has to offer and allows them to access the resources needed at their specific level. This allows them to develop at their own pace and allow them to do activities that they find interesting to them.

Griffin Theatre

As a part of Rendcomb College, the Nursery benefits from all the fantastic facilities and staff on offer, including our £3.5m Griffin Theatre.

The theatre and specialist dance studios are used for music and dance activates with specialist teachers on hand from the Junior and Senior schools to aid in their learning.

The Dulverton Hall

The Dulverton Hall is used for a host of events throughout the Junior School. Previously the Orangery, the Dulverton is used regularly to host internal events and the weekly Distinction Assembly for the Junior School. The Dulverton has its own stage with a bright and spacious area for parents to sit during assemblies and performances.

Forest School

Located in the ‘Wilderness’, the Forest School allows children to enjoy the natural world within a safe and supportive environment, guided by our fully qualified leaders, whilst giving them the freedom to experience unfamiliar challenges and learn how to deal with them.

We base our Forest School around principles of building confidence, boosting self-esteem and encouraging an appreciation of the natural environment, seeing the benefits of Forest School across all ages here at Rendcomb. We encourage all of our children to be curious about their environment, encountering a variety of new surroundings and challenges along the way. This helps your child develop their skills beyond the EYFS syllabus and prepare them for the wider world outside of school.

Children engage in a variety of fun, and muddy, tasks outside, which range from going on mini-beast hunts and collecting natural objects to creative activities, digging, using tools and shelter building. These activities are successful at developing children’s physical and co-ordination skills as well as their social skills as they learn to work together and express themselves individually, something that can be carried through to the classroom.

The activities in forest school help to improve numeracy and literacy skills in an engaging environment. Sessions take place in all weathers and are flexible in order to maximise learning potential using everything nature has to offer at a given time.

All pupils from Nursery to Year 6 have a timetabled Forest School or outdoor education session each week.

Nursery pupils are supervised by the Nursery staff at all times as well as being accompanied by our level 3 Forest School instructors.
