Rendcomb College: The Perfect School for International Students

Based in the heart of the Cotswolds, Rendcomb College has been helping children to fulfil their potential since 1920. Founded by Noel Hamilton Wills to offer inclusive education to pupils, these core beliefs are still held dear to this day. This sees the school offer a boarding school education to boys and girls from the ages of 3 right up to 18. Where Rendcomb really excels though is in the support and facilities it offers to both national and international students.
Of course, this support network is especially useful to international students at the College. We understand that travelling from another country to board in the UK can present its own challenges to both families and pupils. That is why we have continued to offer a variety of systems to help international students settle in and feel at home.
Pastoral care
We know that academic support is key to helping international students do their best but pastoral care is also something we value highly. All our staff understand how essential this is to students who may be far away from home and sometimes need some help. Acting as de facto parents when students are boarding with us is something we take very seriously. Each pupil is assigned a tutor who is responsible for looking after their welfare. Alongside this, we have a very strong House system which means a Houseparent is always on hand to give support.
Spiritual life at Rendcomb
Looking after a child's spiritual education is key to helping them develop into ethical and caring people. Our commitment is to encourage this to happen with regular assemblies, talks and a range of trips. This helps to give a comprehensive and compassionate view of the outside world to pupils. We have a Grade II listed Chapel on campus for services and parents are often invited to attend on special occasions if they can. A monthly Sunday service is held for all boarders and this usually becomes something they enjoy greatly as they continue with us.
Food and dining at the college
Rendcomb has an on-site team who produce tasty and nutritional meals daily and can accommodate any dietary needs. Lunch comes inclusive with school fees and provides a different menu each day on a 3-week rotating cycle. The meals are varied and we are sure that your child will always find something they love to eat. There is also a fresh salad bar, fruit, homemade soup, cheese and cold meats to choose from in addition. Pupils can choose from water or fruit squash to drink. At certain times of the year, such as Chinese New Year, the catering team also prepare special meals for everyone which helps to make international students feel even more at home.
Extracurricular activities for students
Many international students like to get involved in activities away from the usual curriculum. Rendcomb College helps this to happen through the wide range of extracurricular sessions we offer. The exact activities change termly but all are designed to help pupils make new friends, develop confidence and acquire new skills. From joining the College choir to the debating club, crafts club and many more, we will always have something fun for international students to do.
Sport plays a huge role in life at Rendcomb and we have many college teams for pupils to get involved with outside of the classroom. From football to cricket, rugby, lacrosse, tennis and more, we make sure all students have the opportunity to take part if they choose too.
For truly adventurous older pupils, there is also the Duke of Edinburgh award to think about. Available to students who are 14 and over, it's a great way to boost their CV and build up extra life skills. At Rendcomb, we offer this award to Gold Standard.
The ideal choice for international students
With all the above that the college offers, we are the perfect school for international students. All pupils who come to us can be assured of getting fabulous academic teaching, lots of extracurricular opportunities and all the pastoral support they could ever need.
