Students Elevated in study skills programme

Students in Years 9 to 12 took part in a number of study skills workshops last Friday led by specialist training provider, Elevate Education, to help develop their study techniques and aid them in their exam preparation.
Year 9 began the day with a Memory & Mnemonics session which looked to test and help improve their memory. The pupils were given a number of methods and techniques to help them retain and recall information easily.
Next, Year 10 took part in ‘Study Sensei’, which analysed and explained the key to successful study skills and habits. Year 11 focused their session on time management and how to avoid procrastination. With the pupils currently preparing for their GCSE’s later in the year, the workshop gave students the relevant foundations to build their revision around, using timetables and designated time periods as tools to maximise their efficiency and effectiveness.
Finally, Year 12 undertook a ‘Student Elevation’ workshop which looked to improve self-motivation and self-belief.
One student described the sessions as: “Amazing, motivational and informative.”
Speaking about the sessions, Nick Cox, Deputy Head Academic at Rendcomb CollegeRendcomb College, said: “We have been working with Elevate Education for a number of years to change pupil’s learning behaviours. The seminars are tailored to empower pupils to excel in their study and exams. Perhaps more importantly though, the seminars seed the growth mind-set that we seek to instil in our pupils. It is this that will enable them to develop into confident, life-long learners.”
Elevate Education work with over 700 senior schools across the UK running a number of workshops across a variety of areas designed to achieve behavioural change among students. Their workshops are based around in-depth research of thousands of students getting a detailed insight into their day-to-day approach of studying. This data led to the distillation of 17 key areas that directly affect student performance and have been incorporated into Elevates multi-award winning seminars.
